1966 brake pedal
« on: February 13, 2021, 02:22:39 PM »
Hi. I am brand new to the forum and to classic Mustang ownership but did have a guard green 2016 GT for a few years - sold when i changed jobs

I recently sold a couple Harleys to acquire an auto 1966 GT coupe. Iím the first Aus owner - it was imported by Classic and American Imports in Adelaide. It has KH front discs - not boosted. The car was factory fitted auto but was changed to manual then back to auto by previous USA owners. The brake pedal pad is the smaller manual version. Will the disc brake pedal pad fit the pedal or do I have to source and fit an auto specific pedal?

Do you mean this pad?

If your pedal is small this doesnít fit, so you probably need a specific pedal for auto (bigger than manual).

Iíve searched several major US based parts suppliers and can find any reference or part for an auto specific brake pedal. Seems from 1967 on there was a different pedal but I canít find one for 1966.. anyone have a link or part number?

Thanks anyway. Scott Drake only do a 67-68 part so I will keep looking for a secondhand one or try the XB route

If your pedal is otherwise suitable - correct geometry - can't you just have a larger metal pad welded on, sized/shaped to fit the rubber overlay?
AFAIK that's just what other people have done when swapping transmissions in. That's what I'd do anyway.
