Borg Warner T5 shifter extension
« on: July 27, 2020, 09:43:02 PM »
Hi all,
Has anyone fitted or have experience with shifter extensions.
I've got a T5 in my 68 coupe and there's a fair reach to the gearbox stick!
I've looked on Australian eBay and there's nothing.
I have seen one branded "Restmod" sold in the US, it seems very easy to be copied but improved by attaching it to the gearbox.
Cheers Phil.

If you've never buggered anything you've never done anything!
But if you've buggered a lot maybe you're not very good at it!

Hi Phil. I have one of these on the T5 in my '66. The outfit who makes them is in South Australia.

It doesn't move it back as far as the one you posted but does make an appreciable difference, and they're good value for money. The short shift mechanism itself is very well engineered. Get the bronze cup bushing they offer as well to replace the standard T5 nylon one.

Hey Geoff, I had a better look at my car and the restomod one would be far to long, I've got a centre lever handbrake and only need 4-6" longer, something like the cube would be better!
Cheers Phil.
