I had my T5 reco'd by this mob and was happy with their service, advice and price. They hot tanked, cleaned and painted my bellhousing without any additional charge on top of the quote for the trans itself.

He did the drivetrain swap for me in the Cobra and I couldn’t be happier.

My toploader drops out of 3rd but only on the overrun and only after about 10 seconds.  It's been happening for 20 years and is not a situation that happens very often.

I assumed it was the weight of the gear lever which (in my car) comes out almost horizontal and/or the fact that the linkage is sloppy.

I would be interested in the diagnosis of your box.

Dropping out of gear is likely crook syncro dogs on that gear, they get this from flat changing them when cold or once the the syncro rigs are worn. if you are lucky its shifter adjustment but not normally the case. They are a basic gear box easy to build. parts are cheap. if the dogs are worn that gear will need to be replaced.  rebuild kit is less then $200 gears are about $100 each.
