1965 Mustang Door Data Plate is missing
« on: June 07, 2019, 06:56:57 AM »
My mustang is missing it's data plate. I've been told my other mustang fanatics that its a 1964.6, but I don't know how to go about verifying this.
It has the lip on the front bonnet which I'm aware is unique to the earlier models.

I've looked up the VIN Codes but it didn't give me a clear answer. Its 5RC07C132952

Any help would be very much appreciated

I think 1964 San Jose built coupes ended at build #125000.

So my uneducated guess would be early 1965 with some 1964 leftovers.

You've got one too many characters there as there should be only 11. This will be tricking the decoders. The C you have as the third character shouldn't be there.

The way I read the link Dwayne provided the sequence numbers for coupes went up to 25000.

And unfortunately you probably won't ever know what was originally on the missing door data plate, as Marti reports don't go back that far.

You can get aftermarket plates made to match what you have/want.

Available data shows San Jose Coupe Vin # 132644 has a build date of 31H, 31st August 1964.
Next available is Vin # 134134, build date 08J, 8th September 1964.

So somewhere in between these dates.
14 SEPT 1964 FASTBACK
17 SEPT 1964 FASTBACK
1966 Turbo 6Cyl Coupe
1979 INDY PACE CAR 14800 MILES

The "fanatics" that told you it is a 64.5 are clueless.

There are no C code 64.5 cars, plus, the san jose built cars are not considered true 64.5 cars by anyone I know of.

F, U, & D are the only engine codes used on 64.5 cars but U was used on 65 cars as well.
