snapped/missing stud to bellhousing?!
« on: October 12, 2018, 09:45:49 PM »
Anyone know if itbis much to worry about if one of the bolt holes/studs has snapped off and is long gone on a bellhousing? could I just grind off the provision for this off the clutch plate and make it look like it was never there or is it integral for the strength of holding onto the gearbox?

Yeah, I don't quite follow what you mean either. Do you mean one of the flanges around a hole for bolting the bell to the block is gone?

The bit about grinding something off the clutch plate, if you mean this literally, doesn't sound like a good idea.

...but one of the more official terms for the thin steel plate is "mid plate", and yes you can cut it off as it has nothing to do with strength.
