S550 climate control issue - air not cold on driver's side
« on: November 27, 2017, 06:49:18 PM »
Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue? - the air flow on the passenger side centre vent is cold, the centre vent cool, and the driver's side vent ambient.  It would appear to be an issue with the evaporator, which means removing the dash.

Thanks Glenn.  I plan to but just wondered how it worked out for anyone else with the same issue.  Not looking forward to having the dash dismantled.

Blend motor I bet, the Ford rangers with Climate control do weird stuff as well, but they make a noise first generally be for they fail, I've had the Drivers side one in my XLT replaced, they are like $40 new anyhow

I had this sort of problem twice with the G6E I had. Bent linkages or actuators or something weren't opening or closing something they were supposed to.

First time it was still under warranty and they sorted it without any fuss. It was out of warranty the second time and the dealer's opening gambit was about $700, mostly labour, and they advised it wouldn't happen again because they had a redesigned piece now after a number of failures. I had to stack on a massive act about where was the improved component the first time they fixed it and after some exchanges with Ford head office I eventually got it fixed again at no cost, and it didn't happen again in the two more years I had that car.

The AC is now repaired.  A leaking O ring at the filler valve was replaced and system re-gassed.  It is working normally now and I hope that is the only leak.  I will update again in a month or so if the problem returns.
Thanks for all the replies.
