Alternator upgrade
« on: October 09, 2017, 04:38:30 PM »
I have a 60A factory alternator in my 390 mustang and I want to install twin spal thermo fans with a total output of 29A.
Will the factory alternator be capable of running them or is a new alternator the go?

I was running twin thermo fans in my 66 with a/c, electronic ignition and original 40A factory alternator. It was only marginal so I have now upgraded to a Bosch 80A alternator. Has made a huge difference. I would think 60A should be ok, but may depend on condition and what else you are running.
