I am with you.
Had exactly the same problem,
Did exactly the same fix.
No problems since.
I think there is 6-7 different switches for a 68.
I got lucky on my 3rd attempt.
Man/Auto, power/non power/disk/drums and what ur set up is determines the correct switch to use .
Not one switch fits all.

I can smell oranges !

A $3.95 microswitch from Jaycar does.

After having a lot of trouble with the brake light switch after the power disc conversion I ditched it for a microswitch mounted on a bracket I made up and hose clamped to the steering column. Brilliant!

Less than $10 in parts (microswitch from Jaycar, hose clamp from Supercheap) plus a little bit of wire and spade terminals I already had and I have brake lights that go on with just a touch on the pedal (about 5mm pedal travel) before the brakes themselves are applied.

looks like I have tomorrow planned out. Putting mustang away today and noticed brake lights weren't working AGAIN. time for the micro switch

Fitted a LeBra car bra to the '16 GT. Very easy fit indeed and looks good too.

Installed a new fuel filter, polished the outside and then had a mustang template made out of blast proof tape. Blasted the filter housing and now it has a neat mustang logo etched into the surface. Thought it looked a bit trick..

Bought a $500 gumtree special motor today.

It's a May '96 5.0 roller motor with GT40 heads and explorer manifold. Seller said Ford donated the test engine to a local high school auto-tech program but it wasn't ever used and just sat there.

Got it home and cracked it open to find it had probably only ever run for a couple of hours max  :pepper:

Safe to say I'm pretty happy with my new purchase.

As soon as I saw the heads I was confident I was getting good value, the rest is a huge win.

Lots.
New leaf springs(mid eye to lower it by 1 inch but raised it by 20mm),
new wheel cylinders and adjust brakes,
fix horn that kept going off,
fitted window regulator rollers,
holley accelerator diaphram.
Drives awesome now and doesn't wallow around corners or under acceleration/deceleration and brakes have stopped 'grabbing' so now A HAPPY CHAPPY, can't wait for the next cruize.
Time to start saving for next .........whatever I can find

After sitting in my cupboard for nearly 30yrs, I've finally had my factory Air Conditioning fitted to my convertible. A big shout out to David at Cruzin Air who fitted it all in the comfort of my own garage. David had to modify the brackets due to my custom radiator and did a neat job.

Pop into Mustang Auto Parts to pick up a new oil sender unit. I travel through the Airport Link & Clem 7 tunnels to get there from my place on the Northside only because its sounds good in the tunnel. $20.00 in tolls but I'd use that in fuel even before I'm halfway there.   :burnout:

Lou,  to get the best effect from the air conditioning in a convertible you have to put the roof and windows up   :lmao:  . Yes  I'm that smart to know this  :thumb:
